"Sabrina is a fantastic therapist who brings her passion for equity and multicultural understanding into all her work with youth and their families." - Teachers 4 Social Justice Award 2012 nominated by Sarah Brant, Peer Resources Teacher
I love the amazing ability that kids have to adapt, heal and transform themselves and their surroundings, and I am continually inspired by the strength, courage and creativity of the youth I work with.
For Youth: When you come in to meet with me, this is your time to talk about and explore the things that are important to you. I am open to knowing you, the real you, and working along side you to find a way for you to stretch and grow so that you can reach the goals you are aiming for, and make the changes that you want to make. At this time in your life when things are changing so fast, (but sometimes feeling like they're taking forever) it can be a relief to take a break and have a neutral person to talk to who cares, but is not a friend or family member.
For Parents: As a parent, I am aware of how difficult it can be to see your child in pain or distress, especially when you feel helpless to change the situation. You as the parent are an invaluable part of your child's life and are crucial to the healing process. I will work with your teen to create the trust that will allow me to become your teen's ally and guide. One of the most important parts of my relationship with a teen is supporting them in finding a healthy way to reach the goals that they set for themselves. My work with teens includes both individual and family sessions. If you are looking for parenting guidance, I am available for coaching so that you can add to the tools and skills you have, to make you a more effective parent.
In my practice I welcome families of all different configurations regardless of race, age, gender, sexual orientation, physical ability and spiritual affiliation. Part of my work is always keeping in mind the context that youth live in with their family, community, and the larger world.
